Pecan Toffee Bars
Ingredients
CRUST:
- 1 1/3 CUPS Confectioners’ Sugar
- 3 CUPS All-Purpose Flour
- 3 STICKS Unsalted Butter, cut into pieces
TOPPING:
- 3 STICKS Unsalted Butter
- 1 1/2 CUPS Honey
- 3/4 CUP Heavy Cream
- 3/4 CUP Brown Sugar, packed
- 5-6 CUPS Pecans, chopped or whole (depends on size of pecans)
Instructions
- CRUST: Preheat oven to 350F. Place parchment paper down on the bottom of a 9×12 baking pan. Grease the sides and bottom if not using parchment paper. In a large mixing bowl, mix flour and confectioners’ sugar together. While using mixer, slowly add the pieces of butter to the mixture on low. Blend together. Pat the dough onto the parchment lined baking pan to make the crust. I use a small round glass to smooth it out. Bake for 20 minutes; remove from oven. See Topping recipe.TOPPING: In a large pot; melt butter on low. Add honey, cream, and brown sugar, blend together on low heat. Blend in pecans and keep on low heat for 5 minutes and then turn off heat, let rest for 10 minutes for the pecans to soak. Spread evenly over par-baked crust. Return to the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes more. (depends on your oven) Cool Completely. Refrigerate and cut into small squares.
